The café racer style is a personal favorite of mine. I love the sleekness of the silhouettes, and I find the unpretentious straight zipper to be a great alternative to the upfront bad-assness of the traditional American rider’s jacket. My day-to-day leather jacket is an original 1960s Brimaco jacket (with half the lining ripped out), so when Dave told me he had a pattern for an even better version of my jacket, I was already biased to like it.
When I first saw Dave’s Raider pattern, I was shocked. It’s a monster! It’s not just a café racer—it’s a café racer with teeth. The brutal, squared-off lines. That unbelievable, long chinstrap. The fur racing stripe. If those three words don’t have you salivating, you may be on the wrong website.
I’ve been looking for an opportunity to bring back the Raider ever since then, and with the release of the new bespoke order system, I’ve finally got a chance. Until April 15th, we’re letting the Raider out—in bad, basic black.
If you can find better horsehide than Shinki pigment-finished black, you’re probably making your own jackets and don’t need the Raider (also, please send me an email). For everyone else, check out the order page here.
