Part of building this brand is about creating gear that I can wear, test and exist in throughout my chosen life. Obviously we are not just making leather jackets over here. My fall adventures getting away from the city mean not just testing but really seeking out the full measure of the quality of my gear and my life. We arrived in the boreal forest to snow. My camp moleskin flannel and HB cotton watch cap did the trick.
We dove into wood collection, hunting and fishing in pristine boreal wilderness. Like the magic of solitude, the bushcraft skills of my mates from the North are next level. We caught pickerel and pike including a unique blue pickerel.
Mushrooms were out in full bloom. Lobster tail mushrooms (a parasitic fungus that re-writes the host mushroom's DNA) and winter chanterelles were abounding. My mates were geared up with camp shirts and our new-old stock Nova Scotia waffle knit shirts. We were all toasty, the beer and haute camp cuisine didn't hurt either.
Every night was a wild and foraged food bonanza. Grouse, spruce hen and wild mushroom campfire risotto were highlights. I was blown away how warm and durable the waffle knits are. The original cuff knits were tight and held the elements out.
There is something magical for me about brotherhood, and my guys never disappoint. We work out life problems, goals and solve the problems of the universe just about every night! My reversible Intrepid jacket with Brisbane moss corduroy and Japanese Troy wool reverse side was perfect for hunting, fishing and cold campfire nights...its going on year 4 for that jacket!
