The Fireball Canuck Blanket Coat

THE HIMELBROS X F AS IN FRANK COLLABORATION JACKET:

F as in Frank discovered bolts of original Polo Country Fireball wool blanket material woven in a mill in Italy and approached us to build blanket/leather jackets in some of our most sought after 30s inspired patterns.  Blanket jackets are a North American tradition stretching back to 1807 when the British Military at Fort St. Joseph commissioned the first ones made from trade blankets to clothe troops marching in the dead of winter to repel the American invaders. By the turn of the century American woollen mills were churning out blankets with distinct references to indigenous patterns of the south west and in turn sewing them into warm Mackinaw style coats.  Himel bros started combining vintage blankets and our pasterns in 2012 and this latest collaboration was the inspiration of the Heifetz brothers and their discovery of these old stock rare 1990s 30's inspired blanket.

THE CANUCK BLANKET COAT

Named for Johnny Canuck, the nickname of Canadian soldiers, Shinki Horsehide trim adorns this blanket trainman's jacket.  The beautiful patterns of the oldstock blanket are puzzled together to create a gorgeous warm coat, lined in famed lavender Brisbane Moss British corduroy.  The only thing more beautiful then the deadstock1930s buttons are the three thread gimped keyhole buttons that adorn the front and rear of this silhouette.
